Forest Stewardship Council® Certification

Torpedo Marketing is proud to announce that we are FSC® certified. FSC® is an international organization founded in 1994, committed to advocating the responsible management of forests worldwide. FSC® has developed into a respected and renowned forest certification system. Our FSC® certification ensures that the paper we work with is manufactured from responsibly sourced wood and fibre. The certification indicates that forests in which wood and fibre are harvested are controlled in a manner that reduces environmental impacts.

Torpedo has a Forest Stewardship Council certification

Among many aspects that are regulated, FSC® standards ensure paper product manufacturers source from forest practices that:

  • Protect the quality of water

  • Avoid utilizing hazardous chemicals

  • Protect the woodland

  • Protect locals and indigenous communities

  • Protect the ecology and wildlife habitats etc.

Through this certification Torpedo Marketing can guarantee that our paper is not sourced from:

  • Illegally harvested wood

  • Wood harvested in forests being converted into plantations

  • Wood harvested in violation of civil rights etc.

By offering FSC® certified products, we are taking part in facilitating environmental benefits for biodiversity and the ecosystem. This certification will offer you the opportunity to be confident that our papers are responsibly sourced.

Cascades Recycling Initiative

Torpedo recycles our paper and plastic through Cascades

Furthermore, we continue the initiative of recycling our paper and plastic through Cascades. All our waste materials are sorted into bins that Cascades delivers to us which are then recycled. The bins are sorted based on paper, corrugate and plastic waste. Cascades is a Discarded Material Management organization that specializes in repurposing scrapped material into raw materials used for innovative products. We have a corporate commitment to protecting the environment and we value the opportunity to recycle our waste through Cascades.

Additionally, we also utilize Cascades' secure paper shredding and document destruction service. Any material of ours that contains personal or sensitive information is securely gathered by Cascades in locked bins and sent for shredding. We have an ethical responsibility to maintain confidential information and Cascades helps up maintain our ethical and social duties.

Partnership With SMG

Climate change is becoming a growing concern and will remain a long-lasting challenge. We believe it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to help the environment while also ensuring we do nothing to harm it further. That being said, we are delighted to announce that Torpedo Marketing Inc. has officially become a part of the Sustainable Mail Group (SMG).

Torpedo has partnered up with Sustainable Mail Group

SMG is a non-profit organization committed to transforming the mail industry in Canada into a cleaner and better industry for the environment. By joining the SMG, we are cable of building a sustainable mail value chain and moving our organization along the path toward an environmentally responsible future, including considerations for:

Paper:

“When paper is sourced responsibly from forestlands managed under best forestry practices it enhances the sustainability of the mail value chain.” Therefore, SMG advocates a shift towards 100% sustainable paper consumption and distribution.

Ink:

“Every treatment applied to a piece of paper such as inks and toners can reduce its ability to be recycled and processed back into paper pulp.” Thus, SMG advocates for the creation of mail pieces without materials that can have a negative impact on recycling potential.

Data:

“SMG’s data hygiene and targeting objectives are to recommend businesses to target an audience based on many factors and run several small campaigns rather than one large campaign. Analyzing the effectiveness of the initial campaign can lead to refinements, thereby, eliminating the overproduction of mail pieces”

Carbon:

“SMG advocates for the development of innovative packaging materials and the adoption of forward-thinking packaging and shipping techniques. SMG recommends that sustainable transportation options be selected whenever possible and that carbon offsets be purchased to balance emissions.”

Plastic:

“SMG advocates for the immediate reduction and eventual elimination of plastics in the mail stream. This includes the elimination of bioplastics which requires specific catalysts to completely degrade in the environment.”
